1000 Plates

Writing Journey

Do you ever feel like you have fifty plates spinning in the air? That seems to be my writing life at the moment. Here are a few of the exciting things happening:

  • I'm writing a new novel about two best friends who traveled together in their twenties. Now in their fifties, their lives have changed (Lydia's husband passed away, and her daughter is so fed up with her she signed up for Semester at Sea; Kay's husband left her for a younger woman and her board of directors just fired her from the company she started). They decide to revisit their favorite places in an attempt to restart their lives. It's amazingly fun to write about best friends.

  • I'm editing a suspense novel about a photographer that I wrote during NaNoWriMo last year. Here's the first line: Margo McAllister had promised herself her photographs would change the world. That dream would come true in a mere fourteen hours. Just a few shutter clicks away. Things quickly go wrong.

  • I'm working on covers, marketing, and all the things that go into bringing a book into the world for Tequila Midnight - another suspense novel set in El Paso/Juarez. Click below to let me know which cover you prefer!

Book Recommendation

Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai is the spicy story of two ex-lovers caught in a high-stakes heist. They must find the missing jewels before the bad guys find them, but when Mira's past comes back to haunt them, the task seems impossible. All the while, they attempt to forget their steamy past relationship, which ultimately proves impossible. If you're looking for a fun, quick read - this is it.

Alisha Rai is also one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram.

Victoria, Canada: Water Taxi

I just discovered the world's best way to explore a city! Although, this may only work in Victoria, Canada.

Victoria is built around a winding bay on Vancouver Island. I learned that you could take off on a walk in almost any direction, walk as far as you like, then use your phone at one of 13 seaside locations and call a water taxi to pick you up!

They quickly send you a link that shows your water taxi on GPS, and before you know it, you're stepping into a yellow boat with black and white checkered trim and being whisked back to your original location. It's a great way to see the city.
